Acworth

Acworth, Georgia is just one of the suburban areas in metro Atlanta. Located 30 minutes from downtown Atlanta, Acworth is home to a vast array of residents. Downtown Acworth is full of history, and great food like Henry’s Louisiana Grille (4835 N Main St, Acworth GA, 30101). The owner is a lovely character known by all who live in the area and his culinary creations are second to none!

The history aspect of Acworth is fascinating and has been around since the Civil War. It was originally named Andersonville and was burned down by General Sherman’s army during the Civil War in 1864. The train depot on Main Street was the only building left standing after the fire, and it is now known as the Acworth Train Museum. It was renamed Acworth after a similarly named town in New Hampshire, which was the hometown of Joseph L. Gregg, an engineer with the Western and Atlantic Railroad.

With its convenient location just 30 minutes outside of Atlanta, it’s easy to get to from anywhere in the Southeast. So whether you’re looking for a fun day trip or a longer vacation destination, be sure to add Acworth, GA to your list!
